Here at Axis Medical Center, we are proud to assist patients using applied kinesiology. The three basic factors responsible for optimal health are the body’s structural, chemical, and emotional components. These factors comprise an equilateral triangle called “the triad of health.” If one side of the triangle becomes deficient, poor health is the result. Our Applied Kinesiologist at Axis Medical Center can locate dysfunction in a patient’s triad of health by testing specific muscles. We are able to correct these muscle weaknesses and help the body heal properly. We serve patients in Virginia Beach, VA and the surrounding communities.
If you do have any imbalances in your muscles, this may be the reason that you are experiencing pain. By finding the cause of your pain, we can help correct the problem and help you so that you no longer experience this pain again.
When you first visit us, we will speak to you and get a detailed medical history from you. This will better assist us in helping you heal and finding out exactly what may be the cause of your issues. We may do additional testing as well.
Next, we will look at your posture, gait, and range of motion. After these tests are completed, our friendly and educated chiropractor will speak with you further about the next steps. We want you to live a pain-free life and will work with you in order to accomplish this.
Our practice is stocked with all of the latest technology to ensure we are able to serve you the best that we can. We know that the functions of the human body can be confusing. That is why we deliver high quality patient education to help you fully understand how your body works and how we will help you improve.
Neuro Emotional Technique (NET)
The primary goal of NET is to resolve mind-body stress either through spinal correction or meridian therapy found through a method of advanced diagnosis. Axis Medical Center is trained to diagnose the origin of your unresolved mind-body stress through muscle testing. The treatment process involves connecting your “feelings” around the stress-related issue while a spinal or pulse point connection is made to allow the body to work through the unresolved stress response.
- Emotional mind-body stress (NET)
- Toxic stress (homeopathic)
- Biochemistry stress (nutrition)
- Structural stress (physical correction)
Re-examination on follow-up visits will determine if the initial stress factors are stabilized.
Body-related manifestations of stress include various conditions such as chronic and acute physical symptoms, pain of all types, organ dysfunctions, neurological problems, musculoskeletal and immunological conditions, allergies, and much more. Mind-related manifestations of stress include conditions associated with phobias, depression, anxiety, ADD/ADHD, nightmares, disruptive behavior, a fear of public speaking, emotionally engendered cognitive distortions and many other problems.
Here at Axis Medical Center we are happy to walk you through each step of your treatment plan. NET allows the freedom to personalize each patient’s treatment of stress-related conditions. The outcome of a successful treatment when combining NET with chiropractic care is a less stressed patient who is able to thrive in life. We specialize in correcting your body’s misalignments. Your body does not want to be out of alignment, and that’s exactly what an adjustment can help address. Our compassionate and qualified chiropractor will work with you to relieve this pain and get you back to being pain free every single day.
A chiropractic adjustment can make you feel so much better. Your body does not want to be out of alignment, and that’s exactly what an adjustment can help address. The goal of chiropractic treatment is to reduce the subluxation, increase the range of motion, reduce nerve irritability, and improve mobility. It is also known as chiropractic manipulation, manual manipulation, or spinal manipulation. The adjustment refers to the manipulation of the vertebrae that have abnormal movements and are not functioning properly. A chiropractic adjustment will assist in fixing these issues.
A chiropractic adjustment involves high velocity thrusts applied to the vertebra, relieving sensation, discomfort, and spasms in the surrounding muscles. It also releases joint cavitation, which is caused by the release of oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide.
Although many people visit their chiropractor and have an adjustment when something feels out of alignment, a regular visit will help you prevent future pain and will keep your body feeling great all day long.
If you are having one of those days when you are not in the best mood, an adjustment may actually help. Your body will feel much better, which will naturally improve your mood.
The providers at Axis Medical Center strive to ensure that your spine and the rest of your body are working harmoniously. We will help you develop a plan that will integrate light stretching, some exercise, chiropractic care, and a healthy diet.
Corrective exercises are the use of bodily movements and/or postures to restore desirable changes in diseased or injured tissues. The corrective exercises are movement strategies that minimize or eliminate compensation. Corrective exercises should precede more integrated exercises, because they can cue the patient’s motor system to respond in a more desirable way and assist in removing or improving biomechanical constraints.
Kinesiology Taping is a precise rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints. This technique allows the body’s normal range of motion as well as providing extending soft tissue manipulation to prolong the benefits of manual therapy administered within the clinical setting. Kinesio tape is latex-free and hypoallergenic which makes it “skin friendly” for patients with sensitive or fragile skin; such as, patients with diabetes, fibromyalgia or rheumatoid arthritis.
Our team here at Axis Medical Center is dedicated to helping you achieve your long-term health and wellness goals by offering you reliable lifestyle advice. If you are not sure if the lifestyle choices you are making are worsening or improving your condition, we are here to help. We address the typical chiropractic issues as well as coach our patients to live a healthier life by looking at the individual as a whole mentally, physically and emotionally.
Here at Axis Medical Center we want to help you on your journey towards health and wellness. Our goal is to help you achieve total health and balance with your body. In order to achieve that goal, we are here to offer specific recommendations on nutritional supplements and healthy food choices to help you maintain a healthy weight.
It is important to understand that often times where the pain presents is not the area that needs to be treated. The pain may be due to that area compensating and being over-worked from another area not pulling its weight. Our rehabilitation program includes strength, flexibility and agility training as well as training focused on coordination of body parts and motion to prepare the individual to return to full participation.
Trigger Point Injections
Here at Axis Medical Center, we are proud to offer trigger point injections for patients struggling with fibromyalgia, tension headaches, myofascial pain, and muscle pain in the arms, legs, lower back and neck.
During your appointment, we will locate the area where you are experiencing pain and inject small amounts of anesthetic and steroid to help alleviate your symptoms.
This procedure is safe and the risk of possible complications is very low. You may experience soreness or numbness at the injection site for a temporary period of time. While you should avoid strenuous activity for a few days, you should be able to actively use your muscles immediately following treatment.

We understand how uncomfortable joint pain can be, which is why we are focused on immediate treatment, education, and preventative care. Our treatment plans are customized to each patient’s needs and lifestyle to ensure we provide the best experience and help you find relief quickly and efficiently. We are also able to offer advice on your posture, take you through exercises, and show you relaxation techniques. These will assist you in relieving the recurring joint irritation, as well as any tension you may be carrying in surrounding muscles. We are also able to help relieve pain through ice, heat, electric stimulation, and much more. We will check your muscles as well as your spine for imbalances and alleviate tension so that your body works properly rather than being prone to injury.
